This area seems particularly suicidal. The mobs there drift, so don't expect to get much sleep once you enter.
Apparently the reason the mobs murder us each time we go there isn't because they're high level, but because they wield powerful weapons. It'd be worth figuring out if they're disarmable and/or deceptable.
