(Work in progress)
(Invis) (Flying) A winged courier whizzes through the atmosphere.
You get a sealed letter from corpse of a messenger sprite.
You look at a sealed letter in your inventory... This letter is addressed to High Father Linneas Murr. It is also sealed. You should probably not open it. Tampering with other people's mail is a serious business.
You give a sealed letter to High Father Linneas Murr.
The High Father smiles at you at thanks as you pass him the letter, but
after opening it and scanning the contents it fades from his face and is
replaced with a worried frown.
"Oh dear, oh dear... This is pretty pickle..." he mutters away to himself, not really paying attention to your presence. "My old friend, what have you got yourself into this time? I warned you that politics brought problems, even if you are only mayor of a sleepy little island like Gorn's Anchor. Trapped between the monestary and Mervue... Hmm... This situation won't last forever either, but then you said as much, which is why you wrote to me. War would be a catastophe. The monks of Gorn on the mainland would almost surely sally forth from their temple and charge down the Ocean Trade Route intent on coming to the aid of their brethren. Not a force to pooh-pooh, either... fighting monks are the monks of Gorn."
He goes on like this for quite some time, pacing about, talking to the air and wringing his hands until finally he seems to notice your presence.
"Ah... still here, are you?" he asks rhetorically taking a sheaf of parchment, ink and a quill. "Capital! I have a message for you to deliver. Lord Audis is just about to get himself into a very sticky situation if he is not careful, and I only know of one person who really has any influence with him when his mind is made up on a subject. You must take this letter to Nikoli Audis, the current Lord's son, though delivering it to his hand could prove difficult, since security at the villa has been tightened with so many assassination attempts. Perhaps you could enlist someone else to slip the message to him if reaching Nikoli himself is too dangerous. It could help to prevent a war..."
With a flourishing signature he finishes the letter he had been writing as he spoke to you, closes it,and seals it with hot wax and an imprint from his ring. He smiles at you, conveying his trust and confidence in you, even as he presses the letter into your hand. High Father Linneas Murr gives you a sealed letter!
